Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg
Chers amis des Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg,

Dear friends, chers amis,

EN It is with great regret that we have to announce that Akram Khan has sustained an injury during rehearsals for Until the Lions in Luxembourg. Medical examinations have confirmed that unfortunately Akram will not be able to perform this Friday and Saturday at the Grand Théâtre.
His part will therefore be performed by Rianto.
Akram Khan Company and the Théâtres de la Ville thank you for your understanding.

"For a dancer our body is everything – our instrument, our voice, our life – so an injury is devastating. I am so disappointed not to be able to perform for you tonight, especially since Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg have been a loyal friend and supporter for so many years, and this feels like home, and you are like family. The good news is that I am assured by my doctors that I will only be kept from performance for a few weeks for treatment, and that I will make a full recovery, thankfully. The even better news is that we are blessed with the extraordinary talent of Rianto, who I had personally chosen to take over my role in Until the Lions. Rianto’s astonishing and virtuosic artistry is breath-taking, and his unique movement language enriches the role of Bheeshma. We have been working together for many months - I am extremely grateful that Rianto is able perform in my place, and I know that you will give him and our colleagues in the Company a gracious welcome. I look forward to returning to perform in Luxembourg in 2019, and thank everyone for their kind wishes for my speedy recovery, and for your understanding."
Akram Khan

UNTIL THE LIONS
WITH AKRAM KHAN, 2 DANCERS & 4 MUSICIANS

[EN] The relationship between the Grand Théâtre and Akram Khan has been one of the most consistent and successful over the past decade. He turns his gaze on these questions through the prism of one of his (...)
