CRÉATION EN SEPTEMBRE 2011 AU CURVE THEATRE (LEICESTER)

Chers amis des Théâtres de la Ville,

Nous venons d'apprendre qu'Akram Khan s'est blessé lors de répétitions à Paris la semaine dernière et a dû être opéré d'urgence. De ce fait, il est dans l'incapacité d'assurer son solo DESH, prévu au Grand Théâtre le 18 janvier 2012.

Il sera néanmoins présent pour les représentations de CONFLUENCE les 20 et 21 janvier 2011 à 20h00 - sa participation dans ce spectacle étant beaucoup moins physique.

Pour ce qui est de son solo DESH, aucune autre date ne peut actuellement être fixée - la période de convalescence étant prévue pour au moins 6 mois.

Nous vous remercions d'avance pour votre compréhension et vous prions de bien vouloir vous adresser au guichet de Luxembourg Ticket.lu, c/o Grand Théâtre, 1, Rond-point Schuman, L-2525 Luxembourg (ouvert du lundi au vendredi entre 10h00 et 18h30) pour, soit échanger vos billets pour la représentation de DESH, soit vous faire remettre un bon de la valeur de votre billet.

Nous espérons vous accueillir bientôt à nouveau aux Théâtres de la Ville.

wir haben soeben erfahren, dass Akram Khan sich bei Proben in Paris diese Woche verletzt hat und operiert werden musste. Wir bedauern Ihnen mitteilen zu müssen, dass sein Solo DESH, am 18. Januar 2012 um 20 Uhr im Grand Théâtre, nicht stattfinden kann. Ein neues Datum für DESH konnte leider noch nicht vereinbart werden, da die Genesungszeit momentan auf 6 Monate festgelegt ist.

Die beiden Daten von CONFLUENCE werden jedoch beibehalten. Akram Khan wird an beiden Abenden auf der Bühne seinen Part gewährleisten.

Wir bedanken uns im Voraus für Ihr Verständnis und bitten Sie, sich zur Kartenrückgabe bzw. zum Kartenumtausch für die Vorstellung von DESH an Luxembourg Ticket.lu, c/o Grand Théâtre, 1, Rond-point Schuman, L-2525 Luxembourg (Montag bis Freitag von 10.00 bis 18.30 Uhr geöffnet) zu wenden.

[EN] For many years, AkramKhan has been a regular visitor to Luxembourg with both intimate duets and more ambitious works with his touring company. His last visit with bahok in 2010, which performed to sold out houses and to critical acclaim, further established him as one of the most popular choreographers at the Grand Théâtre. It therefore seemsentirely appropriate that this season, a whole week should be devoted to the British-Asian choreographer and his company.

His new solo Desh, a tribute to his native country of Bangladesh, explores the idea of transformation - of body, land, identity andmemory.The work seeks to unearth the connections between one individual and another, across boundaries of culture, custom, class, belief, labour and language. It refers to the cyclical and extreme metamorphoses of Bangladesh's landscape under the force of water, and to the resourcefulness, will and resilience of ordinary people everywhere.

For this very personal project, Khan has gathered an award-winning team; set and costume designer Tip Yip, (Academy Award for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), lighting designer Michael Hulls (Olivier Award for Broken Fall and "Knight of Illumination Award" for Eonnagata) and composer Jocelyn Pook (Olivier Award for St. Joan).

[FR] Depuis bien des saisons, Akram Khan et sa compagnie sont des habitués du Grand Théâtre, aussi bien avec des duos plus intimistes qu'avec des projets d'envergure. C'est ainsi que, en 2010, lors de leur dernier passage à Luxembourg avec bahok, les deux soirées affichaient complet! Une belle preuve de l'engouement du public du Grand Théâtre pour ce chorégraphe aussi attachant que virtuose.

Cette fois-ci, il nous revient avec un solo en hommage à son pays natal, le Bangladesh. Il y explore l'idée de ces transformations quimodifient autant le corps que le paysage, l'identité et la mémoire, en partant des métamorphoses cycliques et extrêmes que connaissent les paysages d'un Bangladesh soumis à la puissance extrême de l'eau, et des inépuisables richesses de la volonté et de la force dont font preuve les gens «ordinaires» partout dans le monde.

Pour ce projet très personnel, Akram Khan s'est entouré d'une équipe lauréate de nombreux prix: le décor et les costumes ont été créés par Tip Yip (Academy Award pour Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), la lumière est signée Michael Hulls (Olivier Award pour Broken Fall et Knight of Illumination Award pour Eonnagata); quant à Jocelyn Pook, il est le compositeur de la musique (Olivier Award pour St. Joan).
